Miniature American Bull Dog, Mutt or Hybrid?

Published by

The Miniature American bull dog is not a recognized American kennel breed, but is the result of a mix with a pug. This results in a smaller version of the rare full sized American Bull dog.

Also referred to as a bull pug, this pint sized dog is favored by those who live in apartments or who just prefer the bulldog look and personality, but in a smaller dog. With the blood mix of a pug mother or father, the cuteness of the miniature American bull dog knows no bounds.

Physical characteristics of the bull pug is a wide head, short, soft muzzle, and non-bulging, expressive eyes. The ears are small, level and wide apart. The eyes are brown or amber, and there is loose skin around a somewhat thick neck. The teeth are strong and the incisors are rather large which is from the bull dog side of their heredity. The coloring is white with brown or tan around one eye, or fawn colored with a black muzzle. The miniature American bull dog has a stocky appearance with short thick legs and walks with a straight, perky, gait.

Personality wise, the miniature American bull dog needs and craves attention from its owners. He is stubborn, protective, friendly and the epitome of a lap dog. The males of this hybrid are between 11-14 inches tall and 23-40 pounds. The female is approximately one inch shorter and weigh about one pound less than the male.

Because pugs and most bull dogs tend to have breathing problems due to their short snouts set so closely to their faces, the miniature American bull dog, must never be allowed to become too warm or too cold. The mini may not survive sudden extremes in temperature, which is why they also make the ideal inside dog. The bull pug is usually very active, although some are inactive. Still, they enjoy a daily walk to keep them from becoming obese. Again, keep the outside weather in mind when planning to walk your bull pug.

The miniature American bull dog can live from 12-15 years and some have been known to live longer with proper care and love.

I am interested in purchasing a Miniture American Bulldog. Do you know who has puppies for sale? Also do you have pictures of an adult miniture american bulldog you could send. Thanks so much! Penny
